The Costa Calma beach is a long, wide beach that is a part of the Leeward Beach. It is lined with narrow bands of scrubland that separate the beach from the hotel buildings. This is a popular naturist beach that is cleaned of seaweed daily and is pleasant for swimming. However, shrubs are there for a certain amount of privacy.
A beach to the south of Corralejo to the east coast is Corralejo Grandes Playas. It is situated between two of the larger hotels. Those who frequent this beach are surfers, windsurfers, and kiteboarders. There are quieter parts on either side of the hotels for the naturists. Large rock constructions are available for privacy and shelter. The Corralejo Grandes Playas is scenic and lovely to walk along.
At the northern tip of the island is the Corralejo. It was built around what was known as a small fishing port that now has several beaches. These beaches cater exclusively to the family and are safe and close to the needed family facilities.
Built around a horseshoe-shaped cove, is the Caleta De Fuste or Costa Caleta Resort. It was built specifically to slope to the sea, but is protected from the dangerous currents and waves. While this beach goes under improvements, other bathing areas have been dug in the form of lagoons behind the shoreline with imported sand. The Caleta Resort is also family-friendly, however, there is a small portion reserved for naturist near the Atlantico centre.
Playa Chica beach is located in Puerto and was recently enlarged to become what is now a popular weekend destination with the Spanish natives. Another sandy and beautiful beach is on the Island of Lobos. As you gently slope into the water you will see lots of fish. This is the best spot for bathing and snorkelling, if you like.
Geology plays its part in the long black sandy beach of Ajuy. There you can enjoy walking along the cliffs, looking out on the sea or peeking inside a cave. Restaurants that you find on Ajuy beach are owned by the Spanish, but swimming or bathing is unsure.
